Municipal and County Collaboration Webinar – June 24, 2016

June 24, 2016

Western Lands and Communities, a joint program of the Sonoran Institute and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, is hosting a new webinar in our ongoing Planning in the West: Adapting to Rising Temperatures series. This webinar will focus on collaboration between county and municipal governments in developing and implementing climate resilience and/or conservation plans.  A successful model for collaboration between a county and a municipality can make the difference between success or failure in adoption and implementation of climate or conservation planning.

Speakers will share:

  1. Lessons learned.
  2. Effective approaches for cities and counties in collaborating to address development of plans.
  3. Partnerships to meet planning goals.

Representatives from Larimer County, Colorado, will share their lessons learned and successes in city/county collaboration on climate resilience planning. Representatives from Pima County, Arizona, will discuss collaborative partnerships developed and maintained between municipal government, NGOs and civic groups to develop and implement the Pima County Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, an ambitious effort to protect open space, endangered species, and natural resources.

When: June 24, 2016 from 11-12pm AZ // 12-1pm MDT
